Gróa's List of Recommended Heathen Reading

Revised June, 2007

This list contains only books that I have personally read and found to be of value in some way. Since I haven't read everything, this inevitably means that some excellent books have been omitted. My personal opinions and tastes are evident throughout; they are no more and no less than that.

Users of previous versions of this list will notice that the section on "Modern Heathen Writings" has disappeared. The reason is that, although new Heathen writings – especially general introductions to Heathen religion – have proliferated, I have not kept up with them and so have no helpful comments to offer. Also, the section on secondary sources includes more general and comparative works that reflect the reading that has engaged me over the past few years.

Many thanks to Joseph Mandato III and Catherine Burke for proofreading this document and to Richard Ambrose for converting it to Web format. Any errors that remain are, of course, my fault.
